10 Things We Learned After Week 5 of the NFL Season

1. 49ers are the class of the NFL, this is by far the most complete team on all sides of the ball. It is the 49ers versus the field this year

2. The AFC is wide open, a week after beating the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills were anointed the best team in the AFC. After laying an egg against the Jaguars, we’re not so sure the Bills are the crown of the AFC.

3. The Lions have the magic – quietly this team is roaring on, piling up wins. The offense is formidable, and the defense has grown from being a laughingstock to gaining respect. They are right there at #3 (maybe 2) in the NFC.

4. Patrick Mahomes and the offense continues to look ordinary (and also keep getting bailed out by the referees). They’ll need a veteran WR if they are going to make some noise in the playoffs this year.

5. Lamar Jackson is still not a Quarterback who can win you games with his arm. Instead of making big time throws, he continues to make the big time mistake.

6. The New York Jets won a game for their coach, same story here, DEFENSE looks great, offense still looks painful. They’ll win 7-8 games just like last year, same movie.

7. Burrow and Chase on the same page. Chase is always OPEN! Credit to the coaching staff making these adjustments and getting their best playmaker involved. Offense finally looked functional, and the Bengals extend their season.

8. Shane Steichen is firmly on the road to win Coach of the Year. Minshew or Richardson? Taylor or Moss? Does not matter, this coach has the team rolling on both sides of the ball.

9. The Giants are a lost cause and lost their franchise QB to injury. Giants are going to have a very high draft pick; will they take a QB? This team has way too many holes to fix in an offseason.

10. The Patriots were blanked at home and now have scored 3 points over 2 games. Robert Kraft needs to clean house and that starts with Bill Belichick.
